Múlafossur Waterfall in Gásadalur is one of the most iconic sights in the Faroe Islands, where a stream plunges nearly 60 meters straight from the cliffs into the Atlantic Ocean. Surrounded by steep mountains and the quaint village of Gásadalur, the waterfall was once hidden from most visitors until a tunnel was built in 2004, connecting the isolated valley with the rest of Vágar. According to local legend, the area was protected by a witch who cursed the village, making it hard for fishermen to prosper until the spell was finally broken. Today, the scene feels magical in its own right, whether cloaked in mist or glowing in the evening light, Múlafossur seems to embody the untamed spirit of the Faroe Islands. We couldn’t resist adding our own touch here: another penguin stone now waits nearby. If you waddle a little further down from the main viewpoint, you’ll discover a different angle of the falls and perhaps spot where the penguin stone has found its home.
