As we hiked our way through the Faroe Islands, one of the memorable trails took us up to Eiðiskollur. This dramatic cliff rises high above the village of Eiði. The hike isn’t long, but it is steep in sections, rewarding every step with sweeping views of the surrounding sea, Eysturoy’s rugged coastline, and even the distant silhouettes of Risin og Kellingin sea stacks. Standing at the viewpoint, the raw Atlantic winds reminded us just how wild this corner of the world can be. It quickly became one of our favorite spots on the journey, so we decided to leave a penguin stone behind, our small way of marking this windswept edge of the Faroes with a touch of penguin spirit. Look for the trail marking, with a bunch of stones, and there you will find the penguin stone.
