As we made our way up the hillside above Tjørnuvík, the trail markers, carefully stacked rocks, became a small but meaningful guidepost along the path. With every step higher, the view unfolded into something even more breathtaking: the tiny village nestled between steep green mountains, its black-sand beach stretching into the wild Atlantic, and the distant sea stacks Risin and Kellingin standing proudly on the horizon. By the time we reached the cairn, it was clear that this was the best vantage point to capture the beauty of Tjørnuvík in photographs —a scene that feels both timeless and otherworldly. Wanting to leave behind a bit of our own memory, we placed a penguin stone within the trail marking, letting it blend into the pile of rocks while carrying a secret story for the next hiker to discover. But it is not any penguin stone, it is one of the golden ones.
