The Festvågtind Trail near Heiavatnet in Norway offers one of the most breathtaking hikes in the Lofoten Islands, boasting dramatic views over Henningsvær and the surrounding fjords. Rising to 541 meters above sea level, Festvågtind is renowned for its steep, rocky ascent, which often feels more like scrambling or light climbing than a typical hike. Our friends magicandfriends set out to conquer Festvågtind, but halfway up, decided to turn back as it felt more like rock climbing than hiking 😅. Still, the views from the area around the small lake, Heiavatnet, were stunning, with panoramic views that made the effort more than worth it. On clear days, the summit offers one of the best views in all of Lofoten, but even the mid-way point is a photographer’s dream. As they tried to conquer this trail, they also left a penguin stone behind. It’s well hidden in a rock.
