Our Penguin Rating

If you have Gdańsk on your bucket list and want a place to stay that offers both convenience and character without breaking the bank, Gdańsk Hotel Boutique could be what you need. Situated right in the heart of the city’s historic Old Town, it puts you within easy waddling distance of key landmarks like the Neptune Fountain and the Motława River. This hotel combines modern comfort with a nod to the city’s maritime heritage, making it a wise choice for both short trips and extended stays. Whether you’re here to explore the rich history, enjoy the vibrant cultural scene, or relax by the Baltic coast, Hotel Gdańsk Boutique provides a welcoming, well-located base at a price that won’t weigh down your travel plans.
We loved staying at the Gdańsk Hotel Boutique, which has a rich history. The Granary building, in which the hotel is, is over 600 years old and was initially built in the 17th century as a grain storage facility. It played a huge role in Gdańsk’s rise as a powerful trading port on the Baltic Sea. Over the years, it has stood strong through wars and changes, and today, it has been beautifully restored to preserve its historic charm. What’s even cooler? The hotel has welcomed many famous guests over time, adding to its story and character. Staying here feels like being part of something timeless, right in the heart of the city. We also read in the reviews that it offers the best breakfast, so of course, we wanted to check that out.

Check-In Experience
When we arrived at Gdańsk Hotel Boutique, we accidentally entered through Brovarnia, the hotel’s restaurant, since its entrance catches your eye much more than the main door. It was a fun little surprise, but thankfully, the hotel is also easily accessible through the restaurant. Once we arrived at the hotel reception, we were warmly greeted by the staff. Everyone behind the desk immediately stood up to welcome us, creating a genuinely friendly and attentive atmosphere. The check-in process was flawless, smooth, quick, and professional. To top it off, a staff member personally accompanied us to our room, taking the time to explain all the amenities and features and showing us exactly where everything was. It was hands down the most pleasant check-in experience we’ve had so far, setting the perfect tone for our stay.

Check-in begins at 3:00 PM, and check-out is until 12:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to settle in or enjoy a relaxed morning before departure. The reception is open 24 hours a day, so no matter what time you arrive, there’s always someone ready to assist. In addition to standard rooms, there are also seven large, well-appointed apartments available for guests seeking more space or extended stays. There are also exclusive options, such as the Presidential Apartment, the hotel’s most luxurious space, and fully equipped apartments for two or six guests.
Our room was one of those rare travel moments where you feel like you’ve won the hotel lottery. We were given a spacious, character-filled room with a stunning view of the Motława River and the historic Gdańsk Crane right outside our window. It felt like stepping into a piece of the city’s past while still enjoying the comforts of a high-standard hotel. The room was part of the original granary building, a real highlight, as some rooms are in the hotel’s adjacent modern wing, which features a more contemporary design. We felt lucky to be surrounded by centuries-old architecture, with thick wooden beams overhead and the quiet hum of the marina just below.

Reaching the upper floors was no problem, thanks to the convenient elevator, and everything in the room functioned exactly as expected. The design carefully blends function with heritage, featuring sturdy furnishings, ample storage, comfortable bedding, and thoughtful touches that reflect the maritime spirit of the city.
Our room had a range of amenities designed to enhance comfort and convenience. The room featured a well-stocked minibar and a refrigerator, providing easy access to refreshments. For relaxation, plush bathrobes and slippers were provided, along with premium bedding, to ensure a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom included complimentary toiletries, a hairdryer, and a full set of towels. Entertainment options included a flat-screen TV with digital channels, and for those needing to work, a desk and chair were available—additional amenities comprised air conditioning, a portable fan, an in-room safe, and complimentary bottled water. Daily housekeeping services ensured the room remained clean and comfortable throughout our stay.
Our bathroom was spotless and stocked with everything needed for a comfortable stay. High-quality shampoo, shower gel, and body lotion were provided in generous portions, along with a shower cap and other small essentials. Thick, soft towels were neatly arranged, and we also appreciated the mentioned bathrobes and slippers. A powerful hairdryer was available. Everything was clean, well-organized, and replenished daily by housekeeping, making the bathroom feel like a private little spa corner within the room.

Culinary Experience
Breakfast
Breakfast is served on the first floor of the hotel. The setting is both calm and atmospheric, with large windows letting in the morning light and offering views of the Motława River. The service runs from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM on weekdaysand from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM on weekends, giving plenty of flexibility whether you’re an early riser or prefer to linger a bit longer in bed.

From the moment we stepped into the breakfast area, we knew we were in for a treat. The buffet spread is extensive, a true showcase of both Polish and international flavors. There’s a wide selection of freshly baked bread, local cheeses, cold cuts, eggs made to order, smoked salmon, grilled vegetables, pancakes, fresh fruit, yogurts, and even gluten-free options. The coffee is rich and full-bodied, and a variety of teas and juices are available for choice. Everything is beautifully presented and consistently replenished by attentive staff who seem genuinely proud of what they serve.
We can confidently say this has been the best hotel breakfast we’ve experienced so far. It’s a “legendary buffet,” generous, delicious, and far above standard hotel fare. What made it special for us wasn’t just the quality of the food but the thoughtful atmosphere and how seamlessly everything was run. It set the tone for each day, and we looked forward to waking up just to enjoy breakfast again.

Value for Money
For our two-night stay, one room for two adults, we paid 1,185.88 zł (€ 232.61) in total, and honestly, we feel it was exceptional value for money. Considering the historical setting, the size and character of the room, the high standard of service, the included breakfast (which easily ranks as one of the best we’ve had in any hotel), and access to facilities like the whisky bar, spa, and fitness center, the price felt more than fair. Staying in a beautifully restored 17th-century granary with views of the Motława River and the Gdańsk Crane adds a priceless touch to the experience. Given everything included, from thoughtful room amenities to the quality of food and the location right by the Old Town, it’s a stay that feels both memorable and well worth the cost.
While our stay was largely enjoyable, there were a couple of aspects that could be improved. One notable issue was the noise levels in our room, which was located directly above the breakfast area. The early morning setup activities, including the movement of furniture and preparation for the buffet, were audible and somewhat disruptive. This is a common challenge in historic buildings where sound insulation may not meet modern standards. Despite this, our overall experience was positive, and we found the hotel’s historic charm, central location, and amenities to be commendable.
Verdict
★★★★☆
The Gdańsk Hotel Boutique will leave a lasting impression. While the charming old granary building brings character and authenticity, it also means that some practical quirks, such as the morning noise from the breakfast area, are part of the experience. That said, the spacious rooms with stunning waterfront views, exceptional breakfast, inviting whisky bar, and excellent spa facilities more than makeup for it. If you are seeking a memorable stay in the heart of Gdańsk, this hotel offers excellent value and a rich connection to the city’s heritage. We would happily return and recommend it to anyone wanting both history and modern comforts wrapped into one.
