The Town Hall of Zurich, known as the Rathaus, stands in the heart of the old town, right by the Limmat River. Built between 1694 and 1698, it still serves as a meeting place for the city and cantonal councils today. Its impressive Renaissance architecture, richly decorated interiors, and grand council chamber reflect Zurich’s historical wealth and political power. An interesting fact: unlike many town halls that sit in squares, Zurich’s Rathaus is built partly over the river, supported by strong stone pillars. Our friends, archie.dodo.baldwin went on an adventure to the beautiful city and left a penguin stone behind. You have to waddle from Rathaus, to the Rathouse public transport stop. Check the fence next to the river, where the penguin stone is hidden underneath it.
