Vršac Castle, perched on the slopes of the Vršac Mountains in Vojvodina, Serbia, is a striking medieval fortress that offers panoramic views of the surrounding plains. Believed to have been built in the 15th century, possibly by Serbian despot Đurađ Branković, the castle served as a crucial defensive stronghold against Ottoman invasions. Its imposing stone tower is the most well-preserved part of it. An interesting fact about Vršac Castle is that it may have been constructed atop the ruins of an earlier fortress from the Roman era, linking it to a much older lineage of military architecture. And thanks to zivuska, who took a penguin stone on her adventure, you can find one hidden among the walls.
