Castillo de Santa Bárbara is a stunning medieval fortress atop Mount Benacantil in Alicante, Spain. Offering panoramic views of the city, harbor, and Mediterranean Sea, this historic site dates back to the 9th century, when the Moors built it. One interesting fact is that the castle is home to the famous “Face of the Moor” (La Cara del Moro)—a natural rock formation on the mountainside that resembles the profile of a man’s face when viewed from the right angle. According to legend, it tells a tragic love story between a Moorish prince and a Christian maiden, adding a touch of romance to this impressive fortress! But the real surprise? Thanks to our dear friends Lucia and Roshan, a penguin stone has settled comfortably inside one of the cannons🙃 (hopefully no longer in use 😂😂). If you ever visit, check it out for yourself.
