The Livonian Order Castle of Sigulda, also known as Sigulda Medieval Castle, is a medieval fortress in the Sigulda region of Latvia, situated on the edge of the Gauja Valley. Originally constructed in 1207 as a castellum-type fortress, it was later transformed into a convent-like building and served as the residence of the Land Marshal of the Livonian Order until 1432. It was on our one-day trip that we also explored these castle ruins. There is much to explore, and the area is vast, but the tower seemed like a perfect hiding place for a penguin stone.
