The downhill hike from the Black Lake (Schwarzensee) near Bad Mitterndorf, Austria, offers a breathtaking view of the valley below, with the village of Tauplitz in the distance. As we descended, the trail quickly turned steep and rugged, demanding careful footing and strong knees. The path winds through dense alpine forest before opening up to sweeping panoramas, where the green valley stretches far below, framed by the surrounding mountains. Though the descent was challenging, the stunning landscape made every step worthwhile. So, somewhere halfway down the trail, we hid a penguin stone in between rocks. It’s an excellent spot for a short break, having some water, and enjoying the views.
