Alpkäserei Grosshütten, located in the picturesque Swiss Alps, is renowned for its traditional alpine cheese-making practices passed down through generations. This charming dairy farm produces some of Switzerland’s finest cheeses, crafted meticulously from the rich milk of cows grazing on high-altitude pastures. An interesting fact about Alpkäserei Grosshütten is that the cheese is made in huts situated at around 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) above sea level, using wood-fired copper kettles, which impart a unique and authentic flavor to the cheese, distinguishing it from those produced at lower altitudes. Thanks to loborosh and luciakontsek, also a penguin stone resides here now close by. Look for a boulder next to the route.
