Melk Abbey, which you can find high above the Danube River in Austria, is one of Europe’s most magnificent Baroque monasteries. This impressive structure, with its golden-yellow facade and grand dome, has been a center of learning and culture for over 900 years. You can admire its ornate architecture, lavish interior, and breathtaking views of the surrounding Wachau Valley. An interesting fact about Melk Abbey is that it houses an extensive library with over 100,000 volumes, including rare medieval manuscripts. The abbey remains an active Benedictine monastery, continuing its spiritual and educational traditions today. There are also very nice gardens where you can waddle along, and we hid one penguin stone here as well.
