Temppeliaukion Church, also known as the Rock Church or Church of the Rock, is a distinctive and remarkable architectural site located in Helsinki, Finland. The church was designed by the Finnish architect brothers Timo and Tuomo Suomalainen. It is renowned for being built directly into solid rock, which gives it a unique and striking appearance. The construction of the church began in 1968 and it was completed and opened to the public in 1969. The rough, rocky walls of the church provide excellent acoustics, making it a popular venue for concerts and musical performances. The dome of the church is made of copper and is supported by concrete ribs. It has a diameter of 24 meters (about 79 feet). We waddled around and found a perfect spot among the stones for the penguin stone.
