Škocjan Caves Regional Park is in the Škocjan Karst, a vast flat landscape that lies at an elevation between 420 and 450 m in the southeast part of the Karst area. This exceptional system of limestone caves comprises collapsed dolines, some 6 km of underground passages with a total depth of more than 200 m, many waterfalls, and one of the largest known underground chambers. The caves are also part of the UNESCO Heritage, and they should be. We never saw more impressive caves. We waddled through the caves, and once out, you could choose between three paths to take. We highly recommend taking the longest route. Not only because you can find a penguin stone here but also because you will walk through an additional cave. You go through a deep valley and two caves and waddle through a lush green forest. The third path is worth it. We hid the penguin stone at the exit of the cave, and you have to go to your knees to find it. The penguin stone is also behind a regular stone, so it’s not immediately visible.
