Bastejkalna Park, also known as Bastion Hill Park, is a popular and picturesque park located in the heart of Riga, Latvia. On our last evening in Riga, we waddled through the park and decided to leave a penguin stone here. The park was established in the mid-19th century on the site of the former city fortifications. The name “Bastejkalns” translates to “Bastion Hill,” referring to the old defensive structures that once stood there. It is situated along the City Canal, which was initially part of Riga’s defensive moat. The park is easily accessible from various parts of the city, making it a favorite spot for both locals and tourists alike. You can find the penguin stone on a small hill inside a stone wall.
